Four types of creativity and how to cultivate them

The future human job would have a high component of creativity; rote jobs will be automated.
This is per most thought leadership organisations.

Here we are talking about four types of creativity traits, each of which we may have. One of which would be more pronounced

• Integration
  This sort of person, sees elements and imagines a solution that combined together to give value. Good example is the Apple phone that integrated a phone, music player and camera to one.
• Splitting
  This is the exact opposite of the above, where what looks similar is identified as different traits. Good example is segmenting and marketing a similar product to different audiences.
• Figure Ground reversal
  This is the hardest for me to remember and understand.
  At its simplest such a creative person, understands value in the boundary cases that are not in focus. The example given was how Slack pivoted from creating video games, to selling an internal tool used from comms.
• Distal
  This creative genius imagines the future that does not exist. This is how Tesla imagined a future of driverless vehicles. Often when selling such a future, iterative changes are given to reach an eventual distal future. Tesla providing lane change assistance, while on the journey to being driverless.

How do we cultivate them?

First identify your dominant creative skill.
Identification by analyzing your creative endeavors for the traits. Analyze the suggestions in a brain storm and tag ideas with each of these traits. For a problem, try and articulate solutions in each of these dimensions. Also know each of these traits have their pitfalls and try to rein in overuse.
